Disposable Vape Not Hitting? 8 Fixes to Try Before You Bin It

“It just stopped working” is the message we see most often – and in most cases the device isn’t faulty at all. Go through these checks in order. The first three solve the majority of problems.

Fastest fixes first
  • Charge it (properly) for 30–60 minutes.
  • Check the e-liquid level on the screen.
  • Clear the airflow and any condensation.

1. Charge it properly

Blinking lights almost always mean low battery. Plug it in for 30–60 minutes with a standard USB-C cable and a normal 5 V phone charger or laptop port. Fast-charge bricks can cause problems with some devices. If nothing lights up at all while charging, try a different cable before anything else.

2. Check whether it is actually empty

Devices with a display – like the Tornado 15K and Digital Box 12K – show battery and e-liquid separately. If the liquid reads empty, no amount of charging will help; vaping on empty is what causes that harsh burnt taste.

3. Clear the airflow

Pocket lint and dust collect in the mouthpiece and air holes. Tap the device gently, mouthpiece down, on a tissue. Then blow lightly through the mouthpiece (don’t inhale) to clear it.

4. Get rid of condensation

Gurgling or tiny drops of liquid in your mouth mean condensation has built up. Wrap a tissue around the mouthpiece and give two short, gentle blows, then tap it upright a few times.

5. Warm it up

In winter, e-liquid thickens and wicks slowly – the first few puffs feel weak. Keep the device in an inside pocket for a few minutes rather than in a cold car or jacket.

6. Slow down

Chain vaping doesn’t give the coil time to re-soak. Wait 10–20 seconds between drags and take steadier, slower pulls. You will get better flavour and more puffs out of the device.

7. Check the mode or airflow setting

If your device has an airflow slider or a power mode, make sure the airflow isn’t closed off and the mode hasn’t been switched by accident in your pocket.

8. If it leaks

  • Store it upright, especially in warm weather.
  • Never leave it in direct sun or a hot car.
  • Wipe the mouthpiece and the charging port – liquid in the port can stop charging.
Safety
Never open, puncture or try to refill a disposable. If a device gets hot, swells or smells of burning plastic, stop using it and keep it away from heat.
